In interim chief Sean Whent, did feds find their Oakland Police ‘house cleaner’?

As bad as Oakland Police Department’s crime-fighting reputation has become, the choice of Sean Whent as new interim chief may signal that cleaning up the department from within is the top priority of federal overseer Thomas Frazier. The Chronicle’s Demian Bulwa and Matthai Kuruvila offer a bio of the new interim chief, including excerpts from a deposition two years ago in which he expressed doubts about OPD’s internal affairs officers looking past personal relationships to root out misconduct.
