MTC official: Caltrans image has ‘taken a beating’ over bridge fiasco

Thursday, May 9, 2013

Not that he could have described it any differently, but the understatement-of-the-week award goes to Metropolitan Transportation Commission executive director Steve Heminger. He told a meeting of the Bay Area Toll Authority yesterday that Caltrans’ image has “taken a beating” over the Bay Bridge fiasco, while saying it could cost up to $10 million to fix the bad engineering.

Assuming it will be only that much, that’s twice the amount toll payers are/were expected to chip in for the bridge’s grand opening party Labor Day weekend, if it happens. Contra Costa Times
