Careful readers of Chronicle stories about the Warriors’ hoped-for new arena will note that the “more waterfront-friendly design” unveiled over the weekend (and pictured above) shaves a whole 10 feet off the 12-story height of the building. And that the plan calls for a 14-story hotel and a “slightly taller” residential tower across the Embarcadero.
Other apparent changes are similarly curious. Up to now the building has been described as a 17,500-seat arena. But capacity went to 18,000 in Sunday’s Chronicle, even while it was said that “architects have ripped out 750 seats” for a “glass curtain” to allow people on an elevated walkway to peer inside. Go figure.
