Note to Mayor Ed Lee: If you’re going to front the Warriors’ move from Oakland to the Embarcadero waterfront, it’ll help to know that the team’s star point guard is Stephen Curry, not “Steve.” The muffed line came Tuesday when Curry was presented a key to the city—a goof that, like the event itself, was overshadowed by the announcement that Santa Clara will be home to the 2016 Super Bowl. For the record, the mayor had pronounced the name correctly several times before (at about the 29:45 mark in the video) going off the rails with this twice-mangled one-liner:
“You know what they say: You give Steve Curry an inch, and he might take a Golden State a mile!”
