What Hemingway might have said about the Bay Bridge fiasco

Thursday, May 2, 2013

The best line in Chronicle columnist Debra J. Saunders’ column today on the Bay Bridge fiasco isn’t actually in the column (which paid subscribers may read at SFChronicle.com). It’s in the un-paywalled tease to the column at SFGate. After reminding readers that they’re paying a surcharge of $3 to cross the existing Bay Bridge so that it may be replaced with a safe new east span which may not be safe, she delivers: “So do not ask for whom the bridge tolls, it tolls for thee.”

By the way, you can read the column for free at Townhall.com. Go figure.
