With clock ticking down on Candlestick, fans want to buy pieces of it

Thursday, May 9, 2013

The 49ers’ last game in San Francisco (which is to say the last game ever at Candlestick Park) is Dec. 23 on Monday Night Football against the Atlanta Falcons. And there’s evidence fans have already gone into nostalgia mode as they brace to wave goodbye before the 49ers’ 2014 move to Santa Clara. Niners CEO Jed York says the most frequent question he gets is from fans wanting to know how they can buy pieces of Candlestick, including the seats. He tells the Mercury News’ Cam Inman that’s being worked out with the city, which owns the soon-to-be demolished stadium.
