A’s move closer to re-upping at the Coliseum; Movement on waterfront?

Thursday, June 27, 2013

While San Jose sues Major League Baseball, and Oakland-hating A’s owner Lew Wolff gets maximum PR leverage from Coliseum plumbing leaks, here’s a little ditty that’s getting much less attention: The A’s are closing in on a five-year lease extension that will keep them at the Coliseum through at least the 2018 season.

And today: the Port Commission will consider settling a lawsuit that would move a maritime tenant at the 50-acre site known as Howard Terminal elsewhere—in theory freeing up the waterfront site for a future ballpark. Boosters attempting to keep the A’s in town are already seizing on it as a positive step in their favor, whether or not Wolff et al own the team five years from now. Oakland Tribune
