Bill Workman, former Chronicle reporter was 77

The longtime former Chronicle reporter who covered a host of big stories from Sen. Ted Kennedy’s 1969 accident at Chappaquiddick to the Patty Hearst kidnapping and who became a journalistic fixture covering the Peninsula for years, has died. Workman died Tuesday morning of prostate cancer. He was 77. Obit: San Francisco Peninsula Press Club
