Alysia Abbott’s memoir of growing up in San Francisco under the care of her gay father, the late writer Steve Abbott, is out. It’s called “Fairyland: a memoir of my father,” and is based largely on her dad’s journals, which she found after he died from AIDS-related complications in 1992, when she was 22. Chronicle has a pay-walled review today. Here’s an NPR piece and link to Abbott’s recent Fresh Air interview with Terry Gross.
