For Warriors, it could be a long, hot NBA summer

Friday, June 21, 2013

Now that the NBA season has finally ended with a Miami Heat championship on the eve of the first day of summer . . . time for a little Warriors update? Backup center Festus Ezeli (pictured) may miss half of next season after knee surgery; power forward Carl Landry and sixth-man star guard Jarrett Jack are exploring free agency; the Warriors have no picks in next week’s draft and no cap money, and they will pay bench players Andris Biedrens $9 million and Richard Jefferson $11 million.

What to do? They’re running a cattle call for second-and-third chance free agents in hopes of finding something other than plastic in the Cracker Jack box. Chronicle $
