America's Cup
A bad couple of PR days for America’s Cup, of which there have been more than a few. Not only is the Swedish team going to be delayed getting its catamaran back in competition following last month’s fatal accident, but there’s now word that the private fundraising that was supposed to take San Francisco taxpayers off the hook for the event lags significantly. The regatta’s organizing committee still talks bravely about making up the shortfall, but assurances expressed in the Chronicle today have a sort of check’s-in-the-mail tone.
