PBS NewsHour to close its San Francisco bureau

Tuesday, June 11, 2013

The flagship public television news program will shutter its bureaus in San Francisco and Denver as part of a reorganization, TV Newser says, citing an internal memo. No names of affected staffers were named in the memo, but TV Newser says among those departing is San Francisco correspondent Spencer Michels (pictured), who has reported for the program for 30 years. NewsHour intends to increase its reliance on freelance video journalists.
