Janet Napolitano’s base salary as the newly-confirmed president of the UC system is $570,000, less than predecessor Mark Yudof (who, with perks, topped $800,000), but more than triple the $175,000 she was paid as head of the U. S. Department of Homeland Security. The former Arizona governor was confirmed yesterday when the Regents met at UCSF after what’s become fairly routine at such meetings: clearing protesters who refused to leave the room. Mercury News
