Here we go—huge cost overrun at Transbay Center

Try not to think about this the next time you pass a Bay Area toll gate: $48.7 million in toll bridge funds are being shifted to cover cost overruns at San Francisco’s Transbay Transit Center, and it will barely make a dent. The Transbay Center is $300 million over budget so far, pushing the latest cost estimate to $1.9 billion. Steve Heminger, executive director of the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, tells the Chronicle, “We may not have seen the end of it.”
