Remember the heated competition earlier this year for those 200-plus call center jobs for the state’s new health insurance exchange that Concord won? And the 7,000 people who applied? With two months to go until startup, guess what? Now we’re being told that about half those jobs will be part-time, and—get this—with no health benefits. Red-faced officials are fielding complaints from those hired who’ve only recently learned the jobs will be part-time. Contra Costa supervisor Karen Mitchoff tells the Contra Costa Times the hiring process was “a comedy of errors.”
