KTVU 2 takes the low road, declines to explain its bogus Asiana crash report

Tuesday, July 16, 2013

KTVU 2 management doesn’t appear to be doing itself—and the credibility of its news operation—any favors. Mum in the aftermath of the station’s preposterous blunder (video here) in airing phony, racist names of the Asiana Flight 214 pilots last Friday, management has apparently decided to try and ride it out without explaining how such a thing could have happened. The new (since Sunday) rationale: that to do so would be imprudent now that the airline is suing it for damaging its reputation.

Meanwhile, AP reports the summer intern at the National Transportation Safety Board who allegedly confirmed the bogus names that he or she was given by someone (who?) at the station has been sent packing. Duh.

At least there seems to be accountability at the NTSB.
