Student had been rescued from crash before fire truck struck and killed her

Friday, July 26, 2013

Turns out 16-year-old Ye Meng Yuan, who survived the Asiana Airlines Flight 214 crash only to be run over and killed by an SFFD fire truck, had been rescued from the plane by a firefighter and placed on the ground near the left wing moments before the tragedy. ABC 7’s Dan Noyes scores an exclusive about the circumstances of the accident, including the fact that the veteran firefighter driving the truck was doing so alone without a spotter, an apparent violation of department policy.
