Sunday in Death Valley: 129 degrees a U.S. heat record for June

Turns out there were conflicting temperature readings Sunday over how hot it got in Death Valley and rangers this morning resolved the debate. It was 129 degrees (and not 128 as first determined). That’s the hottest June temperature ever recorded in the United States. LA Times writes about it.
