Annoyed by all the websites that track you whether you want them to or not, and whose “cookies” you sometimes can’t get rid of? A bill to force commercial websites to disclose whether they may be placing tracking “cookies” on your computer got off to an impressive start yesterday, approved 36-0 in the state Assembly. Attorney General Kamala Harris asked for the bill to essentially force social networks and others to state whether or not they honor users’ “do not track” signals. Long way to go yet, though. AP
