Bodega Bay celebrates Hitchcock’s ‘The Birds,’ 50 years later

Thursday, August 29, 2013

Although famous as the film locale for Alfred Hitchcock’s 1963 classic “The Birds,” Bodega Bay has never really tried to draw much attention to itself for the movie. But Sunday and Monday will be different, with a festival marking the 50th anniversary of the horror thriller. Among the highlights, an autograph session featuring star Tippi Hedren, a movie screening, and docent-led tours of local resident Leah Taylor’s house, where the windows are assuredly not boarded up. Oh, and there’s an elaborate supper planned at the Casino Bar & Grill, co-hosted by co-star Veronica Cartwright. Chronicle

The photo is a still from the movie, showing children fleeing Potters School, one of the film sites in town popular with tourists.
