Columnist Tammerlin Drummond has done as much as anyone in local media to provide a touch of humanity to coverage of Oakland’s incessant violence. Now she’s off to Harvard as a Neiman Fellow, where she aims to research evidence-based strategies and practices that have led to reduced street shootings in other cities. Her last column, for awhile at least, ran yesterday. She plans to return to the Trib next June.
