Shoplifter rides again: Mary Hayashi wants to be a state senator

Thursday, August 1, 2013

The disgraced former assemblywoman who was trounced in her bid to win Nadia Lockyer’s old seat as an Alameda County Supervisor last year after being convicted of stealing from Neiman Marcus, just won’t go away. She’s in the 2014 hunt for the East Bay’s 10th Senate District seat being vacated by the termed-out Ellen Corbett. And although Hayashi hasn’t raised much new money, she’s still sitting on a huge $732,000 campaign stash. It’s what’s left from happier days, before she got caught sneaking out of the Union Square store with more than $2,000 worth of wardrobe upgrades. Political Blotter
