Time to sing: jailed ‘Mommy PI’ detective turns state’s witness

For those who thought they’d heard the last of ex-cop turned “Mommy PI” detective and wannabe reality TV star Christopher Butler, sorry. He’s in prison on corruption charges for his role in a Contra Costa law enforcement drug scandal. But Monday he was singing like a bird as a prosecution witness in the trial of former sheriff’s deputy Stephen Tanabe. It’s part of the deal Butler cut for less jail time.
