Tale of two columnists on the BART negotiation mess. One, Willie Brown’s simplistic rehash in the Chronicle of a factoid—that Gov. Jerry Brown is widely believed to be considering a push to require binding arbitration in transit-labor negotiations in response to the BART stalemate. The other, a reasoned, well-reported thesis by the Mercury News’ Daniel Borenstein on why binding arbitration, while it may seem like a good idea, could be disastrous for BART riders and other taxpayers.
