Most of what’s in the public domain about the billion-dollar-plus arena the Warriors owners want to build over the bay at Piers 30-32 is as much PR hype as news. Now comes a little digging by the Chronicle’s John Cote and a port commission public records request turns up word that the arena—which nobody has approved—is months behind its original schedule aimed at 2017 and that the cost to repair the piers, long a graveyard of would-be developers, has risen (so far) up to $50 million. The Warriors’ well-connected hired-hands are downplaying it. Chronicle
