Word from Sacramento is that the rushed-up, little-noticed move to name the historic west span of the Bay Bridge for Willie Brown may get approval from the state Senate as early as tomorrow. Already, the Chronicle is treating it as if it’s a done deal with a piece that ponders whether people will actually refer to the bridge using the Brown name. (Not likely.) All in all, it looks like another win for political cronyism from lawmakers ever vigilant to aggrandize their breed and whose approval ratings flirt with single digits.
